Recruitment Case Study

Going After New Markets

A manufacturing client needed a Lean Manager who could hit the ground running and make an immediate impact. This prominent plant in North America was in the process of moving into new regions of the U.S. and was desperate to boost brand awareness. But implementing efficiency measures and metrics company-wide was a growing problem. The firm needed to attract a Lean Manager of Manufacturing that possessed the skills necessary to manage process and procedure. Should they keep executive recruitment in house?

What they were doing

Without solid leadership, the firm’s HR department lacked direction and experience in hiring at the senior level, proving too difficult to handle the demands under the current circumstances.  It was time to engage with a partner capable of developing an integrated executive recruiting approach.

Duffy’s Strategy

Duffy Group implemented a strategy which leveraged Recruitment Research tools, including tapping into contacts from industry networks, researching regional targets, and highly targeted cold calling strategies. By developing integrated solutions to serve the client’s business needs, Duffy successfully identified candidates that displayed the leadership qualifications perfect for the challenged environment.

Duffy Group Strategy

Combining recruiting research and various internet strategies, Duffy focused locally on industrial manufacturing sites currently engaged in lean manufacturing to source the level of expertise and experience best suited people for the job. Duffy Group’s team utilized current contacts and in-house expertise regarding companies in the geographic area with a successful track record for deploying lean manufacturing.

Budget concerns were minimized – Duffy Group’s recruiting model cost our client a fee equal to less than 10 percent of the candidate’s annual salary; substantially more cost-effective than a traditional retained search firm. Within 10 business days, two highly-qualified candidates were submitted for consideration; one candidate quickly moved through the interview process – and was ultimately hired.  These results were achieved in less than 30 days while using this consultative approach. The company experienced minimal down time for implementing organizational-wide changes.
